However, based on the most recent study, high protein intake because of the Atkins diet may actually increase the risk of a person developing heart failure, especially in men. Heart failure happens when the heart could barely pump all the blood and oxygen that it needs to provide for the body. The scientists who conducted the research says that people who think that they could consume as much protein as they can without worrying about gaining weight is wrong because they would be at risk of heart failure instead.
The only proteins that are not exactly leading to the risk are fish and eggs. Those who consume a lot of protein like different kinds of mean could be at risk by 43 percent. Previous studies show that this could also lead to Type 2 diabetes, which is also an illness with no cure just like heart failure. According to one of the researchers, Heli Virtanen, their study is actually one of the only research that focuses on the effect of protein on the body that leads to the heart failure. However, he also mentioned how they are currently studying if keeping it in moderation would actually help to prevent it.
