Sending your kids off to school is not the only way you can provide them a learning experience, as there is a lot that can be done at home as well. Your children are at school for only a limited number of hours, whereas most of their time is spent at home where they learn what ultimately makes them who they are as they grow up, especially during those crucial early development years.

But one quality present in all children is that they want to have fun with whatever they are doing, otherwise they immediately lose interest and don’t want to engage in any activity that is boring for more than 2 minutes. However, we recommend that you try the following activities, as they not only make for a great fun time but also deliver a lot of learning to your young ones.

The Games of Learning

Kids like to move around a lot, whether it’s jumping around from couch to couch or just running in circles. Your job is to offer them just that, but with a twist that also inculcates a lot of learning. If you are dealing with preschoolers, then the kind of knowledge you should want to deliver needs to be very basic, such as names and types of farm animals, the different kinds of colors, numbers, and also shapes.

Children who are school-going are ready to deal with more complex topics, such as those covering world history, government, human anatomy, and even a foreign language.

Of course, all of these topics should be taught on a very basic level, however when it comes to learning a foreign language, there are studies which have shown that children are much better at learning multiple languages than adults. Not only that, but learning a foreign language is also very advantageous to children as it broadens their learning spectrum.

The Basics of Phonics

There is no greater joy in the world than reading a book, and the faster your child learns how to read, the more time you will allow him to discover all those amazing children’s books that are available out there. However, make sure your teaching lesson does not turn into a tedious task, because as soon as your child feels like she is getting bored, the learning is over.

The best way to go about this is to develop a game around letters and their sounds. Perhaps have a scavenger hunt whereby your child has to find the letters, and as soon as they are found, you say them out loud. That way, whenever you child sees that letter, he will repeat the sound and it will remain forever imprinted in his mind.

Writing Is an Art Best Learned As Early As Possible

There are a lot of situations when writing is the most useful tool to get through life, whether it is for filing taxes or writing important emails. The earlier your child becomes apt at writing, the easier it would be for him or her to get through all those years of schooling and education.

But for a child, writing is not something you can teach at a very young age. Hence, it’s better if you first get them to become comfortable with holding a pencil in their hands. From there, graduate to tracing out alphabets, preferably with the help of dotted alphabets which are available in a notebook form at any bookshop.

Once that is done, and by this time your children should be going to school, it is time to include them in the writing tasks you handle on a daily basis, such as making a grocery list or other such writing tasks that do not require a lot of writing caliber.

Colors Are Always Fun

While you may think colors will come naturally to your kid, but helping them identify all the different colors, especially those that are present in a rainbow, will provide them a sense of satisfaction that they know a lot about their surroundings.

The task is to feed their appetite for curiosity, and once they have the satisfaction that they can identify the different colors all around them, they would want to discover all that they don’t know about yet, such as different surfaces, fabrics, etc.
