Getting married doesn’t always mean that you’re bound to have a happy ever after. The most recent example of which is of Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, who, after being married for only eight months, announced their split for undisclosed reasons.
There are times when it is better to hold off the exchange of vows, especially if you’re unsure or need more time to get to know each other and be absolutely sure that you’re compatible together.
And that’s exactly what Grey’s Anatomy star Camilla Luddington and Castle Rock’s Matthew Alan did. The couple recently tied the knot after dating for many years.
First Date
Of course, this is a case-to-case basis but the recently-married couple proves that a wedding ceremony is just a cherry on top of an already perfect romance.
Camilla, who is best known for playing Dr. Jo Wilson in the medical-drama ABC series, became a Mrs. after she said “I do” in front of 70 close friends and family, including her Grey’s Anatomy costar Jessica Capshaw, who played Arizona Robbins in the show.
The intimate ceremony was held on Aug. 17 at a California coastline because the bride specifically wanted the ocean as the backdrop to their picture-perfect wedding.
Speaking of the wedding venue, this wasn’t the place they had originally planned to hold the ceremony. They initially wanted to get hitched in California but the scenic spot was ravaged by the wildfires last year.
Nonetheless, the celebration of their union was nothing short of amazing. Camilla stunningly walked down the aisle to Sweet Disposition by Temper Trap in a Mira Zwillinger bridal couture gown with what looked like intricate floral embroidery.
The song held sentimental meaning to the couple because it was the same song they danced together to at a concert in 2008, which marked their first date.
‘Family Unit’
Despite the wedding not going according to plan, what’s important is that their 2-year-old daughter Hayden was there to witness mommy and daddy enter wedlock, cementing their status as a family.
They welcomed their bundle of joy in March 2017 and later the same year, Matthew popped the important question. What made the proposal even more special was that it took place on the New Year’s Eve!
Camilla took to Instagram to share the news by posting a photo of the ring seemingly being inspected by the baby. Don’t worry, the mother said that the little girl approved of it.
The 35-year-old said in an interview that they already feel married after having a child, but actually cementing the “family status” felt right, especially because they would be able to share the special moment with Hayden.
As per the wedding planner, Ampersand Entertainment’s Karen Waldron, the bride and groom wanted natural elements in the decor, which was observed in the rattan lights and wooden tables, while the touches of gold on the tables made the event even more glamorous.
Another Wedding?
Speaking of wedding, Camilla’s Grey’s Anatomy character also got married to Justin Chambers’ Alex Karev in the season finale of the 14th run of the show – so, how did Matthew react?
Apparently, the actress’ then-fiance jokingly hinted that he was jealous. Recounting the shooting day, the William & Kate star said Matthew even wished her good luck as she wed another man on TV.
But she maintained that he understands the nature of the work since he is also an actor. He even came to the set to see his girlfriend tie the knot.
