Finally, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first child, Baby Sussex, has been born. The healthy baby boy has long been the topic of media outlets for more or less the nine months he was in the womb of his mother.
During the agonizing wait, people have often pondered of the gender, due date, and even the name of the offspring. While we now know that the couple welcomed a son at 5:26 a.m., weighing 7 pounds and 3 ounces, a name has yet to be revealed.
In a video announcement, the obviously giddy, excited first-time father Prince Harry could not seem to contain himself as he faced the media to make the big announcement. The 34-year-old could not stop smiling in the whole 1 minute, 25 seconds of the clip, pretty much like how kids are excited to get their hands on a treat.
With the birth of Baby Sussex, at least some of our questions were answered but some remained a query, including who are going to be the child’s godparents. While the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex remained tight-lipped on who will belong on the list, bettors already have speculations. Here they are:
Charlie Van Straubenzee
Charlie Van Straubenzee is an English investor and businessman who is one of the leading contenders to become Baby Sussex’s godparents.
The man and Prince Harry’s friendship actually dates back during their childhood days and it was believed that they first met in Ludgrove Prep School. Charlie’s brother, late Henry, was actually classmates with the duke, while another brother, Thomas, is a good friend of Prince William and a godfather to Princess Charlotte.
To prove just how close they are, Prince Harry served as the best man in the August 2018 wedding of Charlie and Daisy Jenkins. Charlie, meanwhile, also attended the May 2018 tying of the knot of his good friend to the former “Suits” actress.
Toronto-based stylist Jessica Mulroney and Meghan have been very good friends even before the actress joined the royal family.
It is only safe to presume that the fashionista will become a godparent to Baby Sussex because she had been part of key events in the life of her friend and Prince Harry, including the New York baby shower and of course, the May wedding. It’s not only the Canadian fashion icon that attended the occasion, but also her three children who played vital roles in the wedding.
George and Amal Clooney
Meanwhile, power couple George and Amal Clooney take the lead in the list of celeb godparents. After all, they have been close to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle even before rumors about their marriage started circulating.
The Lebanese lawyer and the new mom are both philanthropists while their husbands likely started the bond among the four. Apparently, the 34-year-old Sentebale founder and the “ER” star got the chance to connect at a private charity function and since then, they had been great friends.
